The Authentication System

From object
to immutable record
in three steps.

Here is exactly how Kronolok authentication works, from the moment a watch is presented to the moment its certificate is permanent.

01

Authentication Device Bonded

A proprietary tamper-evident authentication device is physically bonded to the timepiece at the moment of authentication. Each device is unique to a single item and cannot be transferred, duplicated, or reverse-engineered.

The authentication device is applied by a Kronolok-certified dealer or our authentication team. The seal is designed so that any attempt at removal is immediately visible and permanently invalidates the certificate.

02

Encrypted Identity Created

When the authentication device is activated, Kronolok generates a cryptographic certificate — a digital fingerprint binding the item, its provenance history, and its registered owner into a single permanent record.

This record is written to a distributed ledger. It cannot be altered, deleted, or overwritten by anyone, including Kronolok. Every certificate includes: model, serial number, authentication date, certifying dealer, and the complete ownership chain from the first registration.

03

Ownership Verified in Perpetuity

When a Kronolok-certified watch changes hands, both parties confirm the transfer. The new owner is recorded. The certificate updates. The chain of custody is permanently preserved.

A buyer can verify authenticity before purchase with a single tap — no account required. Every transfer is timestamped and cryptographically signed. The result is an unbroken ownership record from first registration to the present moment.

Questions

Everything you
need to know.

No. The proprietary security device is applied to the caseback using a tamper-evident bonding process that is entirely non-invasive to the movement or case. It is invisible to the eye, adds no measurable weight, and does not affect the watch's mechanical function or its warranty status with the manufacturer.

The seller initiates a transfer through the Kronolok platform. Both parties confirm the transaction. The new owner's identity is permanently recorded in the chain of custody, and the certificate updates to reflect the transfer. The entire process takes under two minutes.

Kronolok authentication adds provenance — the single most significant driver of value on the secondary market. Certified watches consistently command premiums over uncertified pieces, particularly on private sales and at auction. Buyers pay for certainty.

Any timepiece with a market value of $25,000 or above. There are no brand restrictions. We authenticate pieces from independent watchmakers, major maisons, and independent collectors with equal rigour.

Kronolok is currently onboarding Founding Legacy Dealer partners. Collector access opens through dealer referral upon launch. If you are a collector who wishes to be considered for early access, you may apply directly through our collector programme.

You do. Kronolok maintains the immutable record on a distributed ledger. You control what is verifiable and by whom. We will never sell, share, or expose ownership data. The record is yours — Kronolok is simply the infrastructure that protects it.

The authentication device is embedded in a tamper-evident seal. Any attempt to remove it destroys the seal and immediately flags the certificate as compromised. The device contains a unique cryptographic key that cannot be extracted, cloned, or replicated under any circumstances.

Your ownership record is tied to your Kronolok identity, not a single device. You can restore access through our secure account recovery process. Your certificate exists independently on the blockchain and cannot be lost.

Collectors can register directly through Kronolok. For new watches, your authorised dealer will install the proprietary authentication device at point of sale. For existing pieces in your collection, contact us about our private collector authentication service.

Ownership records are private by default. Only you and parties you explicitly authorise can view them. Authentication status — genuine or not genuine — can be made publicly verifiable without exposing any ownership details.

Your certificate data is recorded on a distributed blockchain ledger, not our servers. You can export a self-verifying signed certificate at any time. The record exists independently of Kronolok as a company.
